Innovative Grout Plants on Display at Local Virginia Trade Shows

As the weather warms up, we hit the road for back-to-back tradeshows in our home state of Virginia. Our Winchester facility is a manufacturing hub for grouting equipment. We manufacture grout pumps, grout plants, high-shear colloidal mixers, and cement silos. These two events—the Southeast Cement Promotion Association’s Virginia Concrete Conference and GeoVirginia 2025—gave us an excellent opportunity to showcase our grouting solutions to the geotechnical, construction, and deep foundation industries.

A Greener Future: PD1011E Electric Grout Plants

In the first of the tradeshow series came the Virginia Concrete Conference. This tradeshow is strongly backed by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). VDOT is an invaluable asset to Virginia because they play a key role in the construction of our roads and bridges. This year’s focus at the show was searching for greener solutions in the infrastructure industry. Penndrill is able to provide sustainable options for the infrastructure and foundation industry with our electric grout plants. Of our electric grout plants, the PD1011E grout plant is the most popular. Our PD1011E offers a wide variety of solutions:

  • Zero emissions electric motors: A cleaner job site with a smaller carbon footprint.
  • High Precision Output: Our industry leading high shear colloidal mill, this unit is able to achieve an unmatched grout mix.
  • Simple yet robust design: Built for simplicity and longevity, reducing waste and environmental impact for years to come.

Learning From the Experts

The conference wasn’t just about exhibits—it was packed with valuable industry insights. After a warm welcome by the executive director, Roger Faulkner PE, we were able to see an update on the extensive Hampton Roads Bridge Project. There were also insights into the history and evolution of reinforced concrete as well as a deep dive into the subsurface construction beneath airport runways. Lastly was a case study looking more into the full depth reclamation efforts in Henrico County, VA.

As we networked with attendees in the VDOT community, we found value in the expanding infrastructure industry in our area. Superintendents and structural engineers alike, were able to provide intriguing insights and fresh perspectives on the job site.

GeoVirginia 2025: A Look into the World of Geotechnical Engineering

With one tradeshow coming to a close it was already time to hit the road for the next. Driving a little further south, we ended in Smithfield Virginia for GeoVirginia 2025. This was a new appearance for Penndrill to showcase our wide variety of grouting equipment. This tradeshow is catered to the geotechnical engineers of Virginia. Being able to introduce our grouting equipment to geotechnical engineers and deep foundation contractors across the state was impactful to the show.

Grouting Equipment Built for Deep Foundations

2 pieces of large tan grouting equipment staged together. The left equipment is a large cement silo with a graduated bottom and an auger feed. The right equipment is a grout plant with a black engine and large cylindrical tanks.

Our grout plants and other grouting equipment are well suited for micropiles, tiebacks, and other earth anchors. More specifically, the combination of our PD1011H grout plant with our PD800 cement silo creates an efficient grout batching operation that is able to supply stable grout all day long. Here are some clear advantages to this pairing:

  • All day grout output: The PD800’s efficient powder delivery maximizes plant performance.
  • A cleaner, safer job site: Cement silos are superior at dust control and keeping operations running smoothly.
  • Efficiency that matters: Faster powder delivery means less mixing time and higher grout output.

Key Takeaways from the Educational Courses Offered

The educational courses during GeoVirginia were very insightful into the new innovations in the geotechnical industry. We were able to hear lessons learned in a variety of different applications including geotechnical consulting, mining, infrastructure, and soil-testing. This year’s speakers have spent many years working in the industry.. They were able to provide invaluable knowledge to the industry based on their extensive experience in the field.

Displaying our Grout Plants to New Communities

Being able to have a returning appearance in Richmond for the Virginia Concrete Conference was a great way for us to reconnect with familiar faces and network with the tight knit VDOT community. Meanwhile, attending GeoVirginia for the first time helped us reach a new audience.

The display of our grouting equipment, such as our high shear colloidal grout plants, sparked conversations about innovation in the field. The knowledge we gained and the people we met only fuel our passion to support infrastructure and foundation projects all throughout Virginia.
